SmartMoto Electronics

SmartMoto is a Greek company that has specialised in the development, manufacturing and sale of electronic motorcycle accessories since 2009.

The company serves customers internationally and has built a strong reputation among motorcyclists worldwide. Its eBay store has received more than 9,000 ratings, making the marketplace an important sales and brand-awareness channel for the business.

The collaboration between KOKU SCRIPTS and SmartMoto began in 2019 with the development of the company’s online store. Since then, we have provided ongoing technical support, hosting, maintenance and the continuous development of new features, integrations and automation tools.

SmartMoto’s requirements

SmartMoto required an e-commerce platform capable of supporting both domestic and international sales while centralising orders from multiple sales channels.

The project also needed to reduce repetitive manual tasks and support the operational requirements of a business selling technical products with model-specific compatibility.

The main requirements included:

• A multilingual e-commerce website for international customers.

• Centralised management of orders from different sales channels.
• Automatic communication of order-status updates.

• Integration with the Greek myDATA platform.

The solution developed by KOKU SCRIPTS

KOKU SCRIPTS developed a multilingual online store based on OpenCart, customised around SmartMoto’s product catalogue, international audience and operational processes.

The store was connected with external payment, marketplace and accounting services. We also developed custom tools for product discovery, order processing, email delivery and packaging automation.

Key elements of the project

Multilingual e-commerce website

The online store supports multiple languages, allowing SmartMoto to present and sell its products to customers in different countries.

Product descriptions, categories, informational pages and other commercial content can be managed independently for each supported language.

Stripe payment integration

The store was integrated with Stripe to support secure online payments.

Payment information and corresponding orders can be managed through the existing OpenCart administration environment, providing a consistent workflow for the SmartMoto team.

OpenCart and eBay API integration

Because eBay is an important sales channel for SmartMoto, a direct integration between the marketplace and the online store was required.

KOKU SCRIPTS developed a custom eBay API integration that supports:

• Automatic import of eBay orders into OpenCart.
• Centralised order management through the OpenCart admin panel.
• Transfer of customer, product and shipping information.
• Updates from OpenCart back to eBay regarding the order’s progress.
• Reduced manual entry and duplicate order-management tasks.

This allows eBay orders to follow the same fulfilment workflow as orders placed directly through the SmartMoto online store.

myDATA integration

The online store was integrated with the Greek myDATA platform to support the company’s relevant accounting and tax-reporting processes.

The integration reduces repetitive manual work and helps organise the transfer of the required transaction data.

Shop by Model tool

A custom Shop by Model tool was developed to help visitors find products compatible with their motorcycle.

Customers can select criteria such as the manufacturer and model of their motorcycle and then view products associated with that selection.

This functionality is particularly valuable for a technical-accessories store, where product compatibility is an important part of the purchasing decision.

Email queue system

A custom email queue system was developed to provide more reliable and organised delivery of automated emails.

Instead of requiring every message to be sent during the customer’s request, emails can be placed in a queue and processed in the background.

This approach provides several benefits:

• Faster response times during important customer and order actions.
• Improved handling of larger email volumes.
• Tracking of email-processing status.
• The ability to retry delivery after a temporary failure.

Packaging automation system

A custom packaging automation system was developed to improve the preparation and fulfilment of orders.

The system helps the SmartMoto team organise the products that need to be packed, reduce manual steps and limit the risk of fulfilment errors.

Hosting and ongoing technical support

KOKU SCRIPTS provides hosting and ongoing technical support for the SmartMoto online store.

The cooperation includes platform maintenance, troubleshooting, adjustments required by changes to third-party APIs and the development of new functionality as SmartMoto’s requirements evolve.

An international e-commerce platform supported by custom automation

The SmartMoto project demonstrates how an OpenCart store can become more than a standard product catalogue and checkout system.

OpenCart acts as the central order-management platform, while the integrations with eBay, Stripe and myDATA, together with the custom automation tools, support the company’s real day-to-day operational requirements.

The long-term collaboration, which began in 2019, allows the platform to continue evolving rather than remaining a static online store based only on standard features.
